The Plague Dogs was released in 1982, but I had to wait a while to see it on video, before finally acquiring the DVD in 2003.

The film tells the story of Rowf and Snitter, two dogs who escape from a Cumbrian research station and try to survive on the fells whilst Snitter attempts to convince Rowf of the joys of having a human master.

They are helped by the Tod, a wily fox who has been watching their attempts to live on the fells before finally introducing himself.

The news is released that the dogs may be carrying bubonic plague, and a massive hunt is underway, which includes the military with their tracker dogs and helicopters...
